Goutham Vasudeva Menon is a genius, a bullshittng genius, but one none the less. But with this useless extravaganza, he falls low, very low on my list of directors. He added a middle name and subtracted a whole load of common sense.
The first half of the movie takes you through the first quarter century of Surya’s life and the effect his father has on his life which is well and good. You enjoy the locations and stunning surya. Simran too does a very good job and Sammera Reddy looks beautiful. So during the intermission you buy your popcorn and think, this far its been good and watchable, the hype should be justified in the second half, and then hell breaks loose.
The story goes on a roller coaster ride from hell, Surya acts stupendously in scenes that are put together without rhyme or reason. His girlfriend dies and he brought tears to my eyes with his sorrow but then he comes back with advice from a stranger on a flight to recover and then becomes a drug addict (after seeming to recover) and then a lot of wierd things happen and then he joins the army. Why you may ask, even the character wouldnt know im sure. The again some headache inducing twists and turns with a horrendous background narration that soons starts grating with the word “daddy” used so often that you soon forget the wonderful wonderful six pack surya on screen and find ways to block out that narration and wierd jumping storyline.
